Set in the 1950’s, the play follows the plight of Hester Collyer, who has turned away from her “safe” marriage to a respected Judge, to live in a seedy Flat with a younger man of no real means. Recognising that her passion for Freddie is doomed to end in misery she reaches a terrible decision.
